(Alshahid)The prime minister of the transitional federal government (TFG) of Somalia Mohammed Abdullahi Mohammed is due to resign after talks with the president, Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed in the Ugandan capital of Kampala.
Abdiarim Hassan Jama, the minister of information confirmed that the prime minister has formally accepted to quit office.
Jama said the PM opted to step down after a series of meetings both in Somalia and Uganda, in which the PM held talks with Somali president Sharif Ahmed, Augustine Mahiga the UN special envoy and Yoweri Museveni, president of Uganda who sent troops to Somalia.
He said the premier was asked to step down so as to bring to an end the internal wrangles in the transitional federal institutions (TFIs).
The president is to name a new premier after 14 days from the resignation of Mohammed.
The PM’s resignation spells a bag of mixed outcomes; especially public outcry from innocent Somali’s who saw hope in the reforms set by Premier Farmoja.
