omalia President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed on Sunday said that some of government officials are funding Mogadishu demonstrations against the resignation of the country’s popular Prime Minister Mohamed Abdullahi “Farmaajo”.
Speaking at a news conference held in Mogadishu’s presidential palace Villa Somalia, the Somalia president said those opposed to the Kampala accord that extends both government and parliament’s mandate for year.
The Accord also provides for the resignation of PM Mohammed within 30 days of signing the Kampala Accord.
President Sharif Ahmed warned that Al shabaab fighters can take advantage of the rallies and commit explosions massacres, citing the attacks that killed Somalia’s minister of interior.
The president said that the proposed resignation of Somali premier was because a section of members of parliament said they had some difficult working with PM Mohammed Farmaajo.
Also the Somali president welcomed the killing of al Qaeda leader in East Africa Fazul Abdullah Mohammed by Somalia’s Transition Federal Government (TFG) security forces.
“It is our success and a great setback to al Qaeda and Al shabaab,” said President Sharif Ahmed.
